The multiplex PCR assay increases the sensitivity and specificity for H. pylori diagnosis. Generally other labs choose only one or two gene loci in PCR diagnosis for H. pylori. We did not consider this sufficient because of the higher diversity of H. pylori gene sequences in its genome. It would be impractical to test more gene loci with several monoplex PCRs.
